Tanya Hamilton is an American film director and producer. She is known for her amazing work behind the camera, bringing stories to life on the big screen and television. Tanya was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica. When she was eight years old, she moved to the United States with her mother and settled in Maryland. She studied at several great schools, including the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, and Columbia University.

Her first project was a short film called The Killers, which came out in 1997. This film won awards at the Berlin International Film Festival and from New Line Cinema.
