Tanya Helen Oxtoby (born on June 15, 1982) is an Australian soccer coach and a former player. She is currently the manager of the Northern Ireland women's national team.
Tanya played as a centre-back during her soccer career. She joined the FA WSL club Doncaster Rovers Belles in February 2012. Before that, she played for four seasons with Perth Glory in Australia's W-League. In July 2012, she also became the manager of Nottingham Forest Ladies, while still playing for Doncaster. After finishing her playing days with Everton, she worked full-time as a coach for Notts County Ladies.
In 2015, Tanya returned to Australia to her former club, Perth Glory Women. She became their assistant coach and helped them win their first league title. She also started her own business, Tanya Oxtoby Football Coaching. This business helps female soccer players and coaches. For 18 months, she also worked with the Australian under 20 team. She was an assistant coach and helped analyze game videos.
In early 2016, Tanya moved back to England. She became the Head Coach and Director of Development at Notts County Ladies. She also led the women's football and futsal programs at the University of Nottingham. Later in 2016, she joined Birmingham City Ladies as an assistant coach. From 2018 to 2021, she was the manager of Bristol City. After that, she worked as an assistant coach for the Scotland women's national football team and Chelsea.

Tanya Oxtoby's Playing Career
Tanya Oxtoby was born in Wickham, Western Australia. She started playing soccer when she was eight years old. Her father was her first coach in her hometown of Wickham.
Early Soccer Training
From 1995 to 1999, Tanya attended the Soccer Excellence Program. This program was at John Curtin College of the Arts. In 1999, she was chosen for the Australian Under–19 Schoolgirls team. However, she did not travel with the team to England.
Becoming a Team Captain
In 2005, Tanya became the captain of the Western Waves. This team played in Australia's Women's National Soccer League. In 2008, she was named captain of Perth Glory's women's team. This team played in the W-League. Tanya was one of the few players of Indigenous background in the W-League. She was also the first Indigenous player to captain her team.
Awards and Achievements
In February 2009, Tanya was named the best player for Perth Glory. She won the Most Glorious Women's Player award. She received this same award again for her great playing in the 2011 season. Overall, she played 40 matches for Perth Glory between 2008 and 2012. Tanya has both English and Australian citizenship. In 2012, she joined her teammate Katie Holtham at Doncaster Rovers Belles. They played together in the FA WSL season.

Tanya Oxtoby started her coaching career in 2007. She became an assistant coach at the Football West National Training Centre. In 2008, she was appointed coach for the Western Australia women's Under-15 team.
Coaching in England
In July 2012, Tanya became the manager and head coach of Nottingham Forest. This club was in the English FA Women's Premier League Northern Division. New Roles in England
After her successful time in Australia, Tanya moved back to Notts County Ladies in early 2016. She became their Director of Development and an assistant coach for the first team. She also became the Head of Women's Football and Futsal at the University of Nottingham. In 2017, Birmingham City Ladies hired Tanya as an assistant coach. Her main focus was on how the team played when they didn't have the ball. She also worked as a Talent Identification and Transition Manager for the English Colleges Women's National Team for two years.
Leading Bristol City Women
In July 2018, Bristol City Women named Tanya Oxtoby as their new manager. In her first season, she won two manager of the month awards. She led the team to their highest points total ever, finishing 6th in the Women's Super League. They even had impressive draws against strong teams like Chelsea and Manchester City. In the next season, she kept Bristol City safe in the WSL. This was a big achievement, as they had the smallest budget and many player injuries. Tanya is known for helping young players grow. After a short time as an assistant coach for the Scotland women's national football team, Tanya joined Women's Super League club Chelsea in September 2021. She worked there as an assistant coach. On September 1, 2023, Tanya Oxtoby was officially named the new manager of the Northern Ireland women's national team. She signed a four-year contract with the Irish FA.

Tanya Oxtoby is a highly qualified coach. She has a UEFA A licence, which is a top coaching qualification. She also has a Diploma in Football Management and is a qualified sports psychologist. In December 2020, she shared that she was expecting a son with her partner, Alice Kempski. Alice plays for Cheltenham Town Ladies. Tanya took maternity leave, and Matt Beard took over her coaching duties at Bristol City.
