Tanya Helen Oxtoby (born 15 June 1982) is an Australian soccer coach and former player. She is currently the manager of the Northern Ireland women's national team.
Tanya played as a centre-back during her career. She played for teams like Perth Glory in Australia. Later, she moved to England to play for clubs like Doncaster Rovers Belles and Everton.
After her playing career, Tanya became a full-time coach. She has coached many teams, including Nottingham Forest and Bristol City. She also worked as an assistant coach for the Scotland women's national football team and Chelsea.

Tanya's Playing Career
Tanya Oxtoby was born in Wickham, Western Australia. She started playing soccer at eight years old. Her father was her first coach.
From 1995 to 1999, she joined the Soccer Excellence Program. In 1999, she was chosen for the Australian Under–19 Schoolgirls team.
Playing in Australia
In 2005, Tanya became the captain of the Western Waves. This team played in Australia's Women's National Soccer League.
In 2008, she became captain of Perth Glory's women's team. This team played in the W-League. Tanya was one of the first Indigenous players to captain a team in the W-League.
She was named the best player for Perth Glory in 2009 and 2011. Overall, she played 40 games for the Glory between 2008 and 2012.
Playing in England
Tanya has both English and Australian citizenship. In 2012, she moved to England. She joined Doncaster Rovers Belles to play in the FA WSL league.
Later in 2012, she also played for Everton. She played a total of 14 games for Doncaster.
Tanya's Coaching Journey
Tanya Oxtoby started her coaching career early. In 2007, she became an assistant coach for the Football West National Training Centre. In 2008, she coached the Western Australia women's Under-15 team.
Coaching in England (First Stint)
In July 2012, Tanya became the manager and head coach of Nottingham Forest. She did this while still playing for Doncaster.
In 2013, she also coached the reserve team for Notts County Ladies.
Coaching Back in Australia
Tanya returned to Australia in 2014. She became the assistant coach for Perth Glory Women. She helped the team win the league and reach their first grand final.
During this time, she also started her own business. It was called Tanya Oxtoby Football Coaching. This business helped female soccer players and coaches. She also spent 18 months working with the Australian under 20 team. She was an assistant coach and video analyst for them.
Return to Coaching in England
After her successful time in Australia, Tanya moved back to England in 2016. She rejoined Notts County Ladies as their Director of Development. She also became an assistant coach for their first team.
She also became the Head of Women's Football and Futsal at the University of Nottingham. In 2017, Birmingham City Ladies hired her as an assistant coach. She focused on how the team played when they didn't have the ball.
Managing Bristol City
In July 2018, Bristol City Women named Tanya Oxtoby as their new manager. In her first season, she helped the team reach their highest points total ever. They finished 6th in the Women's Super League. They even got draws against strong teams like Chelsea and Manchester City.
She is known for helping young players get better. She gave many young English players a chance to play at the highest level. Players like Ebony Salmon and Poppy Pattinson grew a lot under her coaching. In August 2021, she stepped down as manager.
Recent Coaching Roles
After leaving Bristol City, Tanya worked as an assistant coach for the Scotland women's national football team. In September 2021, she joined Women's Super League club Chelsea as an assistant coach.
On 1 September 2023, Tanya Oxtoby became the new manager of the Northern Ireland women's national team. She signed a four-year contract with the Irish FA.
