Tanyard Creek Park is a fun, green space in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. This park covers about 14.5 acres (that's like 11 football fields!). It stretches along Tanyard Creek, fitting between Collier Road to the north and a railway line to the south. The neighborhoods of Collier Hills and Collier Hills North are right next to it.

Discover Tanyard Creek Park

Tanyard Creek Park is a great place to explore nature right in the city. It offers a peaceful escape with its winding creek and tall trees. It's a perfect spot for families and friends to enjoy the outdoors.

Exploring the BeltLine Trail

A special part of the park is the BeltLine trail, which is about 1 mile long. This trail doesn't run along the main railway line, but crosses it! The trail starts near the Colonial Homes neighborhood. It then goes past the Bobby Jones Golf Course and Louise G. Howard Park.

The trail continues under Collier Road and right through Tanyard Creek Park. You'll even go under a cool bridge called a trestle bridge, which is still used by trains today. This trail connects to other areas like Ardmore Park in the Ardmore neighborhood. It also leads into the Tanyard Creek Urban Forest, a wilder, wooded area. The trail and urban forest end at Semel Circle, a new area near the Brookwood neighborhood. This part of the trail opened in April 2010.

A Bit of History: The Civil War

Tanyard Creek Park also has an interesting history. During the Civil War, a big battle called the Battle of Peachtree Creek happened in and around this park. Imagine soldiers fighting where you now walk and play! This makes the park not just a place for fun, but also a spot to remember important events from the past.
