Taqwa Pinero (born Taquan Dean on August 6, 1983) is an American professional basketball player. He played as a shooting guard. His last team was Élan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez in France.

Early Life and College Basketball
Taqwa Pinero was born in Red Bank, New Jersey. He went to Neptune High School in Neptune Township, New Jersey.
He became a star college basketball player at the University of Louisville. He played there until 2006. During his time in college, he scored 1,657 points. He also made 361 shots from the three-point field goal line.
In 2005, he helped his team reach the NCAA Final Four. He decided to stay for his final year of college. He finished his college career as the player with the most three-point shots made for his school.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Taqwa Pinero was not chosen in the 2006 NBA draft. However, he still started his professional career.
Playing in Europe and Russia
In 2006, he signed with Angelico Biella in Italy. Later that season, he moved to Dynamo Moscow in Russia. In 2007, he returned to Italy to play for Junior Casale Monferrato.
In July 2008, Pinero played for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Summer League. This is a special league where players try out for NBA teams. Later that year, he joined CB Murcia in Spain.
Moving Around Teams
In 2009, he joined the Euroleague club Unicaja Málaga in Spain. He signed a one-year contract with them. He then had short stays with Saski Baskonia and Kavala B.C. in Greece. For the 2010–11 season, he signed with Air Avellino in Italy.
In August 2014, he signed with San Sebastián Gipuzkoa in Spain. He left that team in April 2015. Soon after, he signed with Mahram Tehran in Iran.
On July 11, 2015, Pinero signed with Socar Petkim in Turkey. In April 2016, he returned to his former team, San Sebastián Gipuzkoa, for the rest of the season.
Later Career and Retirement
On October 10, 2016, he signed with Hoops Club in Lebanon. Two months later, Pinero signed with Iberostar Tenerife in Spain. He left that team in February 2017.
Later that month, he joined Élan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez in France. He signed a two-year contract extension with them in June 2017. He officially stopped playing basketball in 2023.
Personal Life
In October 2016, Taqwa Pinero changed his name from Taquan Dean. This happened after he learned new information about his family. He also became a Muslim and chose an Arabic first name.
