Tarence Anthony Kinsey (born March 21, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a shooting guard or small forward. Tarence played for teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA) like the Memphis Grizzlies and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also played for many teams in Europe. He played college basketball for the University of South Carolina.

College Basketball Journey
Tarence Kinsey played college basketball at the University of South Carolina. He helped his team, the Gamecocks, win two straight NIT championships. The NIT stands for National Invitation Tournament. During the NIT, he averaged 19.4 points per game. He also grabbed 4.2 rebounds and made 3.2 assists per game.
Winning the 2005 NIT Championship
When Tarence was a junior at the University of South Carolina, he was a key player. His team reached the NIT championship game in 2005. They played against St. Joseph's University. With only 6 seconds left, St. Joe's tied the game with a 3-pointer. The score was 57-57.
Kinsey then got the ball for South Carolina. He quickly dribbled down the court. With just 1.3 seconds left, he shot a 3-pointer. The ball went straight into the net! This amazing shot won the NIT for South Carolina, with a final score of 60-57.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Tarence Kinsey started his professional basketball career. He played for teams in the NBA and then spent many years playing in Europe.
Playing for the Memphis Grizzlies (2006–2008)
Tarence was not chosen in the NBA draft, but he still made it to the league. He joined the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2006–07 NBA season. He played in 48 games and averaged 7.7 points. He even started 12 games for the team. In those starting games, he averaged 18.8 points.
He also played for the Grizzlies in the 2007 NBA Europe Live Tour. In the 2007–08 NBA season, he played in 11 games for Memphis.
Time with Fenerbahçe (2008)
After leaving the Grizzlies, Kinsey signed with Fenerbahçe Ülker in Turkey. This team plays in the Turkish Basketball Super League (TBL). He averaged 9.2 points in 14 games. He helped Fenerbahçe win the TBL championship that year.
He also played in the 2007–08 Euroleague, a top European competition. He helped his team reach the quarterfinals.
Joining the Cleveland Cavaliers (2008–2009)
On August 1, 2008, Kinsey signed a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. At first, he did not play much. But when other players got hurt, Tarence got more playing time. He even started a few games and played well. He later sprained his ankle in a game. After he recovered, he continued to play for the Cavaliers.
Returning to Fenerbahçe (2009–2011)
On August 25, 2009, Tarence Kinsey went back to play for Fenerbahçe Ülker. He signed a two-year deal with the Turkish club.
Playing for Anadolu Efes (2011–2012)
In July 2011, Kinsey signed a one-year deal with another Turkish team, Anadolu Efes.
Playing in Italy and Spain (2012–2013)
In 2012, Kinsey tried out for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA but did not make the team. Later that year, he signed with Victoria Libertas Pesaro in Italy. In April 2013, he moved to Spain to play for Unicaja Málaga.
Time with Partizan Belgrade (2013–2014)
On September 9, 2013, Kinsey signed with the Serbian team Partizan Belgrade. He had a great start, scoring 15 points in his first game. In January 2014, he scored a career-high 32 points in a Euroleague game. He also had 5 rebounds and 3 steals in that game. He had one of his best seasons, averaging 14.8 points in the Euroleague.
Playing for Nizhny Novgorod (2014–2015)
On August 4, 2014, Kinsey signed a one-year deal with the Russian team Nizhny Novgorod.
Short Stint with Trabzonspor (2015)
On July 22, 2015, Kinsey signed with the Turkish club Trabzonspor. He played in eleven league games and ten EuroCup games before leaving the team in December 2015.
Joining Crvena zvezda (2015–2016)
On December 28, 2015, Kinsey signed with the Serbian club Crvena zvezda for the rest of the season.
Years with Hapoel Jerusalem (2016–2018)
On July 23, 2016, Kinsey signed a two-year deal with the Israeli club Hapoel Jerusalem. In his first year, he helped the team win the 2016 Israeli League Cup. They also won the 2017 Israeli League Championship. The team reached the semifinals of the 2017 EuroCup.
Later Career (2018–2020)
In September 2018, Kinsey signed with Cafés Candelas Breogán in Spain. In December 2018, he moved to France to play for JDA Dijon. His last professional team was Orlandina Basket in Italy, where he played from 2019 to 2020.
