Tarisa Watanagase (born on November 30, 1949) is a very important person in Thailand's financial history. She was the head of the Bank of Thailand from 2006 to 2010. This bank is like the main bank for the whole country. What makes her special is that she was the first woman to ever be the Governor of the Bank of Thailand! She took over from Pridiyathorn Devakula.

Her Amazing Career
Tarisa Watanagase is an economist, which means she is an expert in how money and economies work. She started working at the Bank of Thailand in 1975. She quickly moved up in her career.
Rising Through the Ranks
In 1992, Tarisa was made a deputy governor at the Bank of Thailand. This was a big step! Later, she became the main governor, leading the entire bank. Her time as governor was from October 2006 to September 2010.

Tarisa Watanagase studied at some excellent schools around the world.
- She went to Triam Udom Suksa School in Thailand.
- She earned her first two degrees in economics from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.

Tarisa also worked as an economist for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 1988 to 1990. The IMF is a big organization that helps countries around the world with their money problems. She is very good at languages and can speak Thai, English, and Japanese.
