Taro Kagawa was born in Kobe, Japan, on August 9, 1922. After finishing his studies at Kobe University of Economics, he began his professional football career.
In 1948, he joined a team called Tanabe Pharmaceutical. He also played for another team, Osaka SC. While playing for Osaka SC, his team reached the finals of the Emperor's Cup three times. The Emperor's Cup is a very important football tournament in Japan. Osaka SC finished in second place in 1951, 1952, and 1953.
Playing for the National Team
Taro Kagawa was chosen to play for the Japan national team in March 1951. This was a special time because it was Japan's first international game after World War II.
His first game for Japan was on March 7, 1951, against Iran. This match was part of the 1951 Asian Games. Kagawa also played in the 1954 Asian Games. He played a total of 5 games for Japan before 1954.
