The Taschereau River (also known as Rivière Taschereau in French) is a small river located in the province of Quebec, Canada. It flows entirely within the municipality of Saint-Théophile. This river is an important part of the local water system in the Beauce-Sartigan Regional County Municipality, which is in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.

Where the River Flows
The Taschereau River is found in the southern part of Quebec. It is part of the larger St. Lawrence River system, which is one of the biggest rivers in North America.
Starting Point
The Taschereau River begins as a mountain stream. Its source is located very close to the border between Quebec and the state of Maine in the United States. This starting point is about 486 meters (or 1,594 feet) above sea level.
The River's Journey
The river flows for about 8.0 kilometers (which is about 5.0 miles). It winds its way through the beautiful landscapes of Saint-Théophile.
Where it Ends
The Taschereau River doesn't flow directly into a large ocean or lake. Instead, it empties into another river called the Rivière du Loup. This meeting point is about 343 meters (or 1,125 feet) above sea level.
Part of a Bigger System
After joining the Rivière du Loup, the water from the Taschereau River continues its journey. The Rivière du Loup then flows into the Chaudière River. Finally, the Chaudière River joins the mighty St. Lawrence River, which eventually flows out to the Atlantic Ocean. So, even though it's a small river, the Taschereau River is connected to a very large and important water network!
What's in a Name?
The name "Rivière Taschereau" was officially recognized on December 5, 1968. This was done by the Commission de toponymie du Québec, which is like a special group in Quebec that names places.
