Taylor Corry, born on January 31, 1995, is an amazing Australian swimmer. She competes in the S14 classification, which is for swimmers with an intellectual disability. Taylor showed her incredible talent at the 2012 Summer Paralympics where she won two silver medals for her country.

About Taylor Corry
Taylor Corry was born in 1995 and grew up in Anna Bay, New South Wales. She attended St Philips Christian College in Port Stephens. Taylor has an intellectual disability, which means her brain works a bit differently.
Taylor's older brother, Keiran Corry, is also a talented swimmer. He has represented Australia too. In 2011, Keiran won three silver medals and one bronze at the Global Games. It's cool that both siblings are such great athletes!
Taylor's Swimming Journey
Taylor Corry is an S14-classified swimmer. This classification helps make sure competitions are fair for athletes with similar abilities. Since December 2010, she has been coached by Tom Davis, who helped her prepare for the 2012 Summer Paralympics.
Taylor started swimming in 2004. She quickly showed her potential. In 2009, she won three gold medals and two silver medals at the National Underage Championships. The next year, she competed in the 2010 Australian Short Course Championships.
Training and Early Success
In 2011, Taylor trained very hard. Most days, she swam for two hours, twice a day. That year, she competed in several big events. These included the 2011 NSW State Age Short Course Championships and the 2011 New South Wales State Open Championships.
Taylor then competed in the 2011 Australian Underage National Championships. She won an amazing seven gold medals there! One gold was in the Girls 15–16 years 50m backstroke, where she finished in 34.81 seconds. Another was in the Girls 15–16 50m butterfly, with a time of 33.26 seconds.
She also competed in the 2011 Australian Short Course Championships. Here, Taylor set a new world record for her classification. She swam the 50-metre multi-class backstroke in just 31.87 seconds!
Competing for Australia
Taylor made her debut on the national team in 2011. She competed at the Global Games in Italy. She had an incredible performance, winning eight gold medals and one silver medal. Her gold medals were in the 50-metre backstroke, 100-metre backstroke, and 100-metre freestyle events. She also won gold in relay races. Her silver medal was in the 50-metre freestyle.
Soon after the Global Games, Taylor competed in the Australian Multi Class National championships in Canberra. She continued her winning streak, earning gold medals in many events. These included the 50-metre butterfly, 50- and 100-metre backstroke, 50- and 100-metre freestyle, and 200-metre individual medley.
She competed at the 2012 NSW Country Championships. Then, at the Australian National Swimming Championships, she placed third in the 50m freestyle Multi Class event. Her time was 29.16 seconds.
Paralympic and World Championship Medals
Taylor Corry achieved great success at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. She won two silver medals for Australia. These were in the Women's 100 m Backstroke S14 and Women's 200 m Freestyle S14 events. Before the Paralympics, she even participated in a local Rotary Club fundraiser to help with her travel costs.
In 2013, Taylor competed at the IPC Swimming World Championships in Montreal, Canada. She won a bronze medal in the Women's 200m Freestyle S14.
At the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, Taylor won another bronze medal. This was in the Women's 100 m Backstroke S14. She also finished fourth in the Women's 200m Freestyle S14 and Women's 200m Individual Medley SM14.
Taylor continued to compete at a high level. In 2019, she earned another bronze medal at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships in London. This medal was for the Mixed 4 x 100 m Freestyle S14 relay.
