You can easily visit Taylor Pond! There's a public area run by the DEC. This area has a campground and a special ramp for launching boats. The land around Taylor Pond is public, which means there are no private homes right on the lake.

Fun Activities at Taylor Pond

Taylor Pond is a great place for outdoor adventures! You can enjoy many activities like boating, camping, fishing, and hiking.

Camping Adventures

The DEC runs a campground at Taylor Pond that is open during the summer. It has 30 campsites where you can set up your tent or park your RV.

  • 25 sites are "drive-in," meaning you can drive your car right to them.
  • 2 sites are "boat-only access" tent sites, perfect for a quiet getaway.
  • 3 sites are "boat-only access" lean-to sites, which are like simple shelters.

The campground is pretty basic, so it does not have a swimming area or fancy bathrooms.

Boating on the Lake

There's a public boat launch at Taylor Pond that you can use all year round. It's a great spot to put your boat in the water. If you don't have your own boat, don't worry! During the summer camping season, you can rent kayaks and canoes to explore the lake.

Fishing for Fun

Taylor Pond is a fantastic place to go fishing! The lake is regularly stocked with fish to make sure there are plenty for everyone.

  • About 1200 lake trout are added.
  • Around 600 Landlocked salmon are also stocked.
  • Sometimes, 50-75 extra fish from the Adirondack Fish Hatchery are put in too.

Other types of fish you might catch include brown bullhead, pumpkinseed, yellow perch, and rainbow smelt. Just remember, you are not allowed to go ice fishing on Taylor Pond.

Hiking and Snowmobiling Trails

If you love to explore on foot, there's a 12-mile trail that goes all the way around the lake. This trail is also used for snowmobiling in the winter. It connects to other snowmobile trails in the area, so you can go on longer adventures!
