About Tee Franklin
Tee Franklin was born on February 11. A family member first showed her comics when they babysat her. She loved reading them and kept up with comics for many years.
Later, she returned to the world of comics. She started by writing reviews and doing interviews. In 2014, she noticed it was hard to find comics with characters who looked like her. So, she decided to start writing those stories herself.
Tee Franklin often talks about the need for more diverse characters in comics. Other famous comic creators respect her for this. She has also used her writing to help herself heal from difficult experiences.
Franklin has autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). In 2014, she was in a car accident that caused a permanent physical disability. She has used a mobility aid ever since. She often speaks about making comic conventions more accessible for everyone. Tee Franklin lives in New Jersey. She identifies as queer.
Her Comic Career
Tee Franklin's first comic book was the graphic novel Bingo Love. She used Kickstarter to fund it in 2016, raising $57,000. Image Comics published the book, and it sold out very quickly.
Bingo Love was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comic Book. It also won the 2017 Queer Press Grant from Prism Comics. Writing about her experiences helped her heal and create stories.
Working with DC Comics
Tee Franklin has written many comics for DC Comics, especially featuring Harley Quinn. This includes six comics in the Harley Quinn: The Animated Series: The Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour series. These were released between August 2021 and January 2022.
She also wrote Tis The Season To Be Freezin' in December 2021. Harley Quinn: The Real Sidekicks of New Gotham Special #1 came out in August 2022. Two Harley Quinn: The Animated Series: Legion of Bats! comics were published in October and November 2022.
Franklin sees Harley Quinn as an anti-hero. An anti-hero is a main character who lacks typical heroic qualities but still does good things. Franklin believes Harley Quinn has ADHD. For Harley Quinn: The Animated Series: The Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour, Franklin was inspired by the 1991 movie Thelma and Louise.
Working with Marvel Comics
Tee Franklin also wrote for Marvel Comics. She wrote Edge of Spider-Verse #4, which was published in September 2022. This comic features a character named Charlotte Webber, also known as Sun-Spider.
Sun-Spider is a disabled Spider-person with Ehlers–Danlos syndromes. She uses crutches and a wheelchair to move around. Sun-Spider also made a short appearance in the 2023 movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. She was voiced by Danielle Perez.
