Telepizza is a big pizza restaurant chain from Spain. It's known all over the world! In 2017, it was the largest pizza chain outside of North America. This was based on how many stores it had.

The Story of Telepizza
How It Started
Telepizza started in 1987 in Madrid, Spain. It was first called "Pizza Phone." A businessman named Leopoldo Fernández Pujals created it. By 1995, Telepizza had grown a lot. It had 200 stores across Spain. It also had more than half of the pizza market there!
Making the Pizzas
Telepizza used to have several factories in Spain. These factories made the pizza bases. Later, they decided to make all the pizza bases in one big factory. This factory is in Daganzo de Arriba, near Madrid. From there, the pizza bases are sent to all the different Telepizza stores.
Growing Around the World
By 2010, Telepizza had opened many stores worldwide. It had 1025 stores in total. Most of these, 603, were in Spain. The other 422 stores were in many different countries. These included Portugal, the United Kingdom, Peru, Chile, Poland, and Russia. They also had stores in Central America, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.
In 2010, Telepizza bought a pizza chain in Colombia. This chain was called Jeno's Pizza. This helped Telepizza grow even more in South America.
In 2017, Telepizza opened its first store in the United Kingdom. In July 2017, they opened their first store in Iran. This was a big step for them in the Middle East. Later that year, they also opened two stores in Paraguay.
Becoming a Public Company
In April 2016, Telepizza made a big business move. They offered shares of their company to the public. This is called an IPO. It meant that people could buy parts of the company. Before this, the company was owned by the Ballvé family and a special investment group called Permira.
