Ten Broeck, sometimes spelled Tenbroeck, is a small place in DeKalb County, in the state of Alabama. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government, like a city or town does.
The Story of Ten Broeck
A long time ago, in 1880, Ten Broeck had its own post office. This was a place where people could send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for about 25 years, closing in 1905.
The community got its name from a local horse. This horse was probably named after a person named Abraham Ten Broeck. He was an important figure in early American history. Abraham Ten Broeck was part of the Continental Congress. This was a group of leaders who helped create the United States.
