Tennent is a small, historic community in Manalapan Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey, in the United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community," which means it's a recognized place but doesn't have its own separate local government. Tennent is often seen as the historical heart of Manalapan Township.
This area is home to the famous Old Tennent Church and its cemetery. The community and the church are named after William Tennent. He was a pastor who served the church for more than 40 years. Tennent also had a significant African American community. This community dates back to the early 1800s. You can find Tennent where County Route 522 and Tennent Road (CR 3) meet.
