The Teoronto Block Historic District is a special area in Rochester, New York. It is a historic district, which means it's a place with important old buildings. These buildings show us what Rochester was like a long time ago.

Exploring the Teoronto Block
This historic district has 10 important buildings. They are called "contributing buildings." This means they help tell the story of the area. The first buildings were built in 1844. Over time, more parts were added or changed.
Rochester's Early Days
The Teoronto Block shows how Rochester grew. It was a busy city because of the Erie Canal. The canal helped businesses move goods. This made Rochester a "boom town." Many new shops and factories opened.
The Teoronto-Smith Block
A main part of the district is the Teoronto-Smith Block. This is a group of three-story buildings. They are made of brick. These buildings were used for shops and businesses. There are nine buildings in this block. Each building has five sections, called "bays." They all share one long roof.
Other Buildings
The district also includes other buildings. These were used for both shops and factories. They are all connected to each other.
National Recognition
The Teoronto Block Historic District is very important. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. This list includes places across the country that are worth saving.
