Terence Darea Morris (born January 11, 1979) is an American former professional basketball player. He was known for his strong defense. Terence was named the Israeli Basketball Premier League Defensive Player of the Year twice. This happened in 2007 and again in 2008. He was also chosen for the All-EuroLeague First Team in 2008, which is a big honor in European basketball.

Early Basketball Years
High School Success
Terence Morris played basketball at Governor Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, Maryland. In his senior year, 1997, he led his team, the TJ Patriots, to win the Maryland Class 3A state championship.
His coach was Tom Dickman. Coach Dickman was famous for having many wins. He held the record for most wins by a public school coach in Maryland for a long time.
College Career at Maryland
After high school, Terence became a forward for the University of Maryland, College Park. He was about 6 feet 9 inches tall. Many people thought he was one of the best young players in college basketball.
After his second year (sophomore season) in 1998–99, experts believed he could have been one of the top 5 players picked in the 1999 NBA draft. However, Terence decided to stay at Maryland for his junior and senior years.
Even though his individual performance wasn't as strong in those later years, he helped his team make history. In 2001, during the 2001 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, he helped Maryland reach the Final Four for the first time ever.
Professional Basketball Journey
Playing in the NBA
Terence Morris was chosen by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2001 NBA draft. He was the 33rd player picked overall. Soon after, his draft rights were traded to the Houston Rockets.
He played two seasons with the Rockets, from 2001 to 2003. After that, he spent a season in the NBDL (now called the G League). He played for the Columbus Riverdragons.
In 2004, he signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, but he was released before the season began. He later joined the Orlando Magic in 2005. He played for them for a while but was released again in 2006. His last NBA game was on February 14, 2006.
Moving to Europe
After his time with the Clippers in 2004, Terence decided to play basketball in Europe. He signed with Apollon Patras in the Greek League.
In December 2006, he joined Hapoel Jerusalem in the Israeli League. With Hapoel, he helped the team win the Israeli State Cup.
In 2007, he moved to another big European team, Maccabi Tel Aviv. Here, he really shined as a defensive player. He was named the Israeli League Defensive Player of the Year in both 2007 and 2008.
In 2008, his great play earned him a spot on the All-EuroLeague First Team. His team also reached the EuroLeague Final that year.
Next, Terence played for CSKA Moscow in Russia. He reached another EuroLeague final with them in 2009. In the same year, he joined FC Barcelona in Spain.
With FC Barcelona, he achieved a major goal: winning his first EuroLeague championship in 2010. After playing two seasons with Barcelona, Terence Morris announced his retirement from basketball.
