Terrell Wade's Baseball Journey

Starting Out in Baseball

Terrell Wade grew up in Rembert, South Carolina. He went to Hillcrest High School in Dalzell, South Carolina. Interestingly, he played basketball there with future NBA star Ray Allen. Wade only played one season of high school baseball. He joined the team on a dare!

After finishing school in 1991, he worked as a bricklayer. But his baseball dream was still alive. In the summer of 1991, scouts from the Atlanta Braves saw him play. They were very impressed. He then signed a contract to play baseball professionally.

Playing in Major League Baseball

Wade made his debut in Major League Baseball in 1995. He played for the Atlanta Braves. That same year, he helped his team win the World Series. He pitched in three games during the World Series.

His best season in the major leagues was 1996. He pitched in 44 games that year. He had a record of 5 wins and 0 losses. His earned run average (ERA) was 2.97, which is a very good score for a pitcher. The ERA measures how many earned runs a pitcher gives up per nine innings.

Moving to a New Team

After the 1997 season, Terrell Wade was chosen by a new team. This happened in the 1997 MLB Expansion Draft. He was picked by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. This team was just starting out in MLB.

He pitched for the Devil Rays in 1998. He played in 10.2 innings for them. He had a record of 2 wins and 2 losses. His ERA with the Devil Rays was 5.06.

Later Career

After his time in Major League Baseball, Wade continued to play baseball. He spent some time in the minor leagues. These are professional baseball leagues below the MLB level.

He played for teams like the Durham Bulls in 1998. He also played for teams connected to the Cincinnati Reds. From 2003 to 2004, he played in independent leagues. These are professional leagues not directly linked to MLB teams. After that, he retired from playing baseball.
