Early Life and College Football

Terry Fontenot grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was one of seven children in his family. He attended LaGrange High School. He graduated from high school in 1999. While there, he was a talented athlete. He played football, ran track, and played baseball.

Playing for Tulane University

After high school, Fontenot went to Tulane University. He played strong safety for the Tulane football team. He played for four years, from 1999 to 2002. In 2001, his teammates chose him as a team captain. He earned a bachelor's degree in business and organizational information technology.

Professional Football Career

Terry Fontenot has had an exciting career in professional football. He started as a scout and worked his way up. He has been part of two major NFL teams.

Working with the New Orleans Saints

In 2003, the New Orleans Saints hired Fontenot. His first job was as a scout. A scout helps find new players for the team. In 2013, he was promoted to director of pro scouting. This meant he was in charge of finding professional players. By 2020, he became the assistant general manager. He was also the vice president of pro personnel. During his time with the Saints, the team won Super Bowl XLIV.
