Terry Newton (born 7 November 1978) was an English professional rugby league player. He played during the 1990s and 2000s. Terry represented Great Britain, England, and Lancashire.
At the club level, he played for the Leeds Rhinos, the Wigan Warriors, Bradford Bulls, and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. He was one of the few players to be part of the first 15 seasons of Super League. In February 2010, his playing career ended due to a ban.

Terry Newton's Rugby Career
Terry Newton had a long and successful career in rugby league. He played for several top clubs and represented his country.
Playing for Leeds Rhinos
Terry joined the Leeds Rhinos in March 1996. He quickly made a big impact. His first game for Leeds was in April 1996 against the Sheffield Eagles.
By 1997, he was a regular player, appearing in 26 games. In 1998, he played in the Grand Final at Old Trafford. He had a great season in 1999.
Leeds signed another top player, Lee Jackson. The coach, Graham Murray, found a way for both players to shine. Terry would start games with his strong play. Lee would then come off the bench to create chances.
Terry played for Leeds in their 1998 Super League Grand Final against Wigan Warriors. He also played for Great Britain twice in 1998. In 1999, he played for England twice against France. He played 83 games for Leeds and scored 6 tries.
Playing for Wigan Warriors
Terry Newton moved to the Wigan Warriors in 1999. His first game for Wigan was on Boxing Day 1999 against St. Helens. He was known for scoring many tries for Wigan. He scored over 12 tries in each of his first two seasons.
Terry played for Wigan in the 2000 Super League Grand Final and the 2001 Super League Grand Final. Both times, Wigan lost to St. Helens and the Bradford Bulls. He also played for England in 2001 against Wales.
In 2002, Terry signed a new 4-year contract with Wigan. He continued to play for Great Britain. He played against Australia in 2002, 2003, and 2004. He also played against New Zealand.
In 2003, Terry played most of the season even though he needed knee surgery. He delayed the operation to help his team. For his efforts, he was named in the 2003 Super League 'Dream Team'. He played in the 2003 Super League Grand Final for Wigan, which they lost to the Bradford Bulls. Terry played in three Super League Grand Finals with Wigan, but his team lost each time.
Playing for Bradford Bulls
Terry Newton joined the Bradford Bulls at the start of the 2006 season. He was part of a player swap deal. While at Bradford, he continued to play for Great Britain. He played against New Zealand and Australia in 2006 and 2007.
He was a very reliable player for the Bradford Bulls. However, the club did not reach a major final during his time there. He left the club when his contract ended in 2009. Terry then signed with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
Playing for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats
Terry Newton joined the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in 2010. He had signed a 2-year deal with the team. However, his contract was cancelled after only two games. This happened because he received a two-year ban in February 2010. After his rugby career ended, Terry became a pub licensee.
