Early Life and High School Basketball
Terry Teagle grew up in Broaddus, Texas. He went to Broaddus High School in his hometown. There, he played high school basketball. He showed great talent on the court from a young age.
College Basketball Journey
Playing for Baylor Bears
After high school, Terry went to Baylor University. He played college basketball for the Baylor Bears team. This was from 1978 to 1982. He was a standout player during his time there.
He was chosen for the All-Southwest Conference First Team three times. This happened in 1980, 1981, and 1982. In 1980, he was named the Southwest Conference Player of the Year. In 1982, he was also selected as an All-American Second Team player. These honors show how skilled he was in college.
Professional Basketball Career
Playing in the NBA
Terry Teagle was chosen 16th overall in the first round of the 1982 NBA draft. The Houston Rockets picked him. He played two seasons with the Rockets, from 1982 to 1984.
After that, he played for several other NBA teams. He joined the Detroit Pistons in 1984. Then he moved to the Golden State Warriors, where he played from 1984 to 1990. He also played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1990 to 1992. He briefly returned to the Rockets for two games in April 1993.
A special moment in his career happened on April 15, 1991. Teagle scored a basket for the Lakers against the Dallas Mavericks. This basket came from a pass by his teammate, Magic Johnson. That assist was Magic Johnson's 9,888th career assist. It made Magic the NBA's all-time leader in assists at that time.

Playing in Europe
After his time in the NBA, Terry Teagle played basketball in Europe. During the 1992–93 season, he signed with Benetton Treviso. This team was part of the Italian Basketball League.
He helped his team reach the EuroLeague Finals. He played alongside famous player Toni Kukoč. In the EuroLeague games, he averaged 19.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. Benetton Treviso lost the EuroLeague Finals to the French team Limoges CSP by a score of 59–55. Teagle scored 19 points in that final game. He was the top scorer of the Finals.
