Teruyuki Moniwa (茂庭 照幸, Moniwa Teruyuki, born 8 September 1981) is a Japanese former professional footballer. He played as a centre back, which is a key defensive position.

Teruyuki Moniwa's Football Journey
Teruyuki Moniwa was born in Atsugi, Japan, on September 8, 1981. He grew up loving football and became a professional player. He was known for his strong defense as a centre back.
Starting His Club Career
Moniwa began his professional journey in 1999. He joined Bellmare Hiratsuka, which later became Shonan Bellmare. Even though he was young, he played many games as a defender. His team was in the J1 League, Japan's top football league.
In 2000, his team moved down to the J2 League. This is the second division of Japanese football. Moniwa continued to play well and became a regular player by 2001.
Playing for FC Tokyo
In 2002, Moniwa moved to FC Tokyo, a team in the J1 League. He played a lot of matches as a centre back. He helped FC Tokyo win their first major title, the 2004 J.League Cup. This was a big moment for the club!
Later, he faced some challenges with injuries. This meant he played fewer games in 2007 and 2009.
Time with Cerezo Osaka and Beyond
In 2010, Moniwa joined Cerezo Osaka. He was a regular player for this team until 2012. He then moved to Thailand in 2014 to play for Bangkok Glass.
Moniwa returned to Japan in 2015 and rejoined Cerezo Osaka. The team was in the J2 League at that time. They worked hard and were promoted back to the J1 League at the end of the 2016 season. In 2017, Cerezo Osaka had a fantastic year! They finished third in the J1 League. They also won two important cups: the J.League Cup and the Emperor's Cup.
After his time with Cerezo Osaka, Moniwa played for FC Maruyasu Okazaki starting in 2019. He continued his career until 2023, when he played for FC Kariya.

He made his first appearance for the Japan national team in October 2003. This was in a friendly match against Tunisia. He scored his first goal for Japan in August 2005 against China PR.

Moniwa was part of the Japanese U-23 team that played in the 2004 Olympics. He played in all three matches for his team.
He was also called up for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. This is one of the biggest football tournaments in the world! He joined the team after another player got injured. Moniwa played in Japan's first match against Australia. He played a total of 9 games for Japan and scored 1 goal before 2006.
