Tetsuro Uki (浮氣 哲郎, Uki Tetsuro, born October 4, 1971) is a Japanese football manager and former football player. He is currently the head coach of the Myanmar women's national football team.
Tetsuro Uki's Football Journey
Tetsuro Uki was born in Matsudo, Japan, on October 4, 1971. After finishing university, he started his professional football career in 1994. He joined Tokyo Gas in the Japan Football League. He quickly became a regular player, often playing as a center back (a defender in the middle).
In 1997, Uki moved to J1 League club JEF United Ichihara. However, he did not play much there. In 1998, he returned to Tokyo Gas. That year, his team won the championship!
In 1999, he joined Omiya Ardija, a team that had just moved up to the J2 League. He played as a center back at first. Later, he changed to a defensive midfielder, helping protect the team's goal.
Uki continued to play for different J2 League clubs. In 2001, he played for Montedio Yamagata. In 2002, he moved to Oita Trinita. His team won the J2 League championship in 2002 and moved up to the J1 League in 2003. However, he didn't get to play much in J1 that year.
In 2004, he joined Shonan Bellmare in the J2 League. He played many games there as both a defensive midfielder and a center back. In 2005, he moved to Yokohama FC, also in J2. He played many matches as a center back for them.
His last club as a player was FC Kariya in the Japan Football League. He played many games there. In July 2007, the team's manager was replaced. Uki decided to retire from playing and became the new manager for FC Kariya.
Tetsuro Uki as a Coach
Tetsuro Uki started his coaching career in July 2007 at FC Kariya, the same club where he finished playing. The team had a tough time in 2007, finishing 16th. But in 2008, he helped them improve to 8th place. In 2009, the team struggled again, finishing 17th. They were moved down to the Regional Leagues, and Uki left the club.
In 2010, he became a coach for the main team at FC Gifu. Later, in 2016, he moved to Shonan Bellmare. There, he coached both the main team and the youth team.
In 2017, Uki became the manager for Kataller Toyama, a club in the J3 League. The team finished 8th in 2017. But in 2018, their results were not good. Uki was let go in May 2018 when the team was at the very bottom of the league.
Since 2023, Tetsuro Uki has been the head coach of the Myanmar women's national football team.
