Teun Floris de Nooijer (born March 22, 1976) is a famous field hockey player from the Netherlands. He is well-known for winning two Olympic gold medals with the Dutch national team. These victories happened at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Games. He also competed in the 2012 London Olympics. Teun de Nooijer played for the Dutch club HC Bloemendaal and also for the Hockey India League team, Uttar Pradesh Wizards.

A Hockey Star's Journey
Early Days and Club Play
Teun de Nooijer was born in Egmond aan den Hoef, Netherlands. He started playing hockey when he was nine years old. He often played with his brothers in their backyard. At age eleven, he joined HC Alkmaar, a local hockey club. Just two years later, he was chosen for the Dutch under-16 national team.
When he was fifteen, Teun made his first appearance in the senior men's league with HC Alkmaar. Two years later, he moved to HC Bloemendaal, one of the top clubs in the Netherlands. He first wore the number 11 shirt. Later, he switched to the number 14, which was made famous by the legendary football player Johan Cruijff. Teun has worn this number for both his club and his country ever since. He even helped create a special hockey stick called the Dita Giga #14.
International Success
Teun de Nooijer made his debut for the Dutch national team on June 4, 1994. This was in a friendly match against New Zealand. He has played over 300 international games for the Netherlands. On April 4, 2007, he played his 350th game for the national team. This happened when the team beat Belgium 7–3 in a friendly match.
In 1998, Teun de Nooijer helped his team win the Hockey World Cup in Utrecht. He scored the winning "golden goal" in the final match against Spain. After this World Cup, he played for a few months in Germany for a club called Harvestehuder THC.
Teun de Nooijer was named the World Hockey Player of the Year three times by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). He won this important award in 2003, 2005, and 2006. Winning it three times was a record at the time. Another player, Jamie Dwyer, later matched and then broke this record.
In 2006, Teun was a key player when the Netherlands won the Hockey Champions Trophy final. This was the eighth time the Netherlands had won this trophy, and Teun's sixth time winning it. On August 15, 2009, he played his 400th game for the Netherlands in a 5–3 victory against India.
Playing in India
In 2012, Teun de Nooijer became the highest-paid player in the Hockey India League. He was signed by the Uttar Pradesh Wizards team. He played for them for some time.
Personal Life
Teun de Nooijer is married to Philippa Suxdorf. Philippa was also a talented hockey player who played for the German national team. They have three daughters named Philine, Lilly, and Nana.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, Teun de Nooijer started coaching. He is currently the coach for the women's team at HC Bloemendaal.
