Thampi Kannanthanam (born December 11, 1953 – died October 2, 2018) was a talented person from India who worked in movies. He was a director, someone who tells the story and guides the actors. He was also a writer who wrote the scripts, a producer who helped make the movies happen, and sometimes even an actor who appeared in them! He mainly worked in Malayalam cinema, which is the film industry in the Indian state of Kerala. He directed 16 films during his career.

Early Life and Family
Thampi Kannanthanam was born on December 11, 1953. He was the sixth son of Baby Kannanthanam and Thankamma. His hometown was Kanjirappally in the Kottayam area of Kerala.
He went to MT Seminary School and later studied at St. Dominic's College. After his studies, he started his journey in films as an assistant director. This means he helped the main director. Thampi was married to Kunjumol, and they had two daughters named Aiswarya and Angel.
His Film Journey
Thampi Kannanthanam started his career in movies in 1979. His first film as a director was Thavalam in 1983. He also acted in a few films himself, like Itha Oru Theeram (1980) and Attimari (1981).
He was very busy making movies during the 1980s and 1990s. Some of his most famous movies that he directed include:

Sadly, Thampi Kannanthanam became unwell and was admitted to a hospital in Kochi. His health got worse, and he passed away on October 2, 2018. He was 64 years old. He is remembered by his wife, Kunjumol, and his daughters, Aiswarya and Angel.
