Thaworn's Golf Journey
Thaworn Wiratchant started his professional golf career in 1987. He quickly became known for his unique golf swing and his ability to win many tournaments. He has played on several major golf tours around the world.
Early Career Highlights
One of Thaworn's biggest wins happened in March 2005. He won the Enjoy Jakarta Standard Chartered Indonesia Open. This was a very special win because the tournament was part of both the Asian Tour and the European Tour. This meant Thaworn became only the second Thai golfer ever to win on the European Tour.
In 2005, Thaworn also finished first on the Asian Tour's "money list." This means he earned the most prize money that season. He was the first player to win over half a million U.S. dollars on the Asian Tour in one year! He also set a record for the lowest score in a European Tour event with 255 strokes. However, this record isn't official because of special rules about where players could place their golf balls.
Thaworn won the Asian Tour money list again in 2012. He had a fantastic year with three big wins. One of these was a thrilling playoff victory at the Hero Indian Open. A playoff happens when two or more golfers have the same score at the end of a tournament. They play extra holes to decide the winner.
Playing as a Senior Golfer
As golfers get older, they can join "senior tours." These are special tournaments for players usually aged 50 and above. Thaworn started playing on the European Senior Tour in 2017 when he turned 50. He did very well, even finishing second in one of his first events.
Later in 2017, he won the MCB Tour Championship by a huge eight strokes! This big win helped him finish high on the senior tour's money list for the year. He continued to win on the European Senior Tour, including another playoff victory in 2018 at the Sharjah Senior Golf Masters.
