The Animals were a famous English music group. They were very popular in the 1960s. The band was known for its bluesy sound. Their singer, Eric Burdon, had a powerful voice.

One of their first big hit songs was "The House Of The Rising Sun". This was an old American folk song. The Animals played it with a rock and roll beat. Even the famous folk musician Bob Dylan liked their version.

Other popular songs by The Animals included "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". They also had hits like "It's My Life" and "See See Rider".

The Band's History

Forming The Animals

The original group started in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. They began playing music together in 1963. The main members were Eric Burdon, Alan Price, Chas Chandler, Hilton Valentine, and John Steel.

Changes in the Group

The first version of The Animals broke up. Eric Burdon then moved to the United States in 1967. There, he started a new version of the band. This new group made more songs like "San Franciscan Nights" and "Sky Pilot". They also recorded "When I Was Young" and "Monterey".

After The Animals

The original members of The Animals got back together sometimes. They would play concerts for their fans. Eric Burdon also sang Animals songs with other bands.

Some band members went on to do other things in music. Chas Chandler, who played bass guitar, became a music producer. He worked with famous artists like Jimi Hendrix.

Alan Price, the keyboard player, left the band in 1965. He had a successful solo career in Europe. Other members, like Hilton Valentine and John Steel, took a break from music for many years.
