What is The Bots Master About?
The story takes place in the year 2025. Robots do many jobs, thanks to a brilliant young engineer named Ziv "ZZ" Zulander. He works for a big company called RM Corp. ZZ created the "3A robot series," which changed the world.
But the boss of RM Corp, Sir Lewis Leon Paradim (LLP), wants more than just money. He wants to control the whole world! With his helpers, Lady Frenzy and Dr. Hiss, LLP plans to take over using the very same 3A robots ZZ invented. Dr. Hiss creates a special "Krang Chip." This chip can make any 3A robot obey only RM Corp.
ZZ finds out about LLP's evil plan. He decides to leave the company and stop the Krang Chips from being made and spread. LLP tries to catch ZZ and make him join their side, but ZZ refuses.
ZZ uses his own smart robots, called the B.O.Y.Z.Z. (which stands for Brain Operated Young Zygoetopic Zoids), to fight against RM Corp's robot army. After escaping, ZZ rescues his sister, Blitzy, and moves his home and operations underground to stay hidden. From their secret base, ZZ and his B.O.Y.Z.Z. start their fight against RM Corp.
ZZ has a secret system called "mirrors." This lets him watch RM Corp's plans from Lady Frenzy's computer. He uses this information to mess up their operations. RM Corp tries to make ZZ look bad by spreading false news reports about him. They try to make people think he is a terrorist.
Later in the series, LLP even tries to become the President of the World!
Who Are the Characters?
Humans
The Zulanders
- Zip "ZZ" Zulander (voiced by Mark Hildreth) - He is "The Bots Master" and a hero who fights for freedom. ZZ created the B.O.Y.Z.Z. Brigade and leads them. He used to work for RM Corp until he found out their bad plans. ZZ is great at disguises and can copy voices. He has cool gadgets in his suit, like anti-gravity boots and a paralyzing beam. He cares about people and tries to avoid harm. ZZ is allergic to a certain cactus pollen. He appears in every episode.
- Blitzy "Blitz" Zulander (voiced by Crystaleen O'Bray) - She is ZZ's brave 10-year-old sister. Blitzy often helps her brother on missions, especially with firepower. She might not be a robot creator like ZZ, but she's good at putting robots together. She loves flying the VAF jet, which has strong weapons. Blitzy is quick to act and also has the same cactus pollen allergy as ZZ. She also appears in every episode.
RM Corp
- Sir Lewis Leon Paradim (voiced by Dale Wilson) - He is the main bad guy. LLP is the bald-headed boss of RM Corp. He wants to take over the world with Krang Chips. Later, he tries to become World President. He always tries to make ZZ look like a villain. LLP is smart and can even fight well when needed.
- Dr. Hiss (voiced by Ian James Corlett) - He is RM Corp's cyborg scientist who creates their robots. Dr. Hiss speaks with a lisp. He really believes in his robots, even though ZZ often destroys them. He hates ZZ and often tries to defeat him with powerful weapons.
- Lady Frenzy (voiced by Janyse Jaud) - She is LLP's second-in-command. Lady Frenzy has feelings for ZZ, which sometimes makes things complicated for her. She is calmer than Dr. Hiss and often tries to talk things out before fighting.
Other Human Characters
- Lonnie Chang - A news reporter who often reports bad things about ZZ. However, her daughter, Rebecca, shows that Lonnie starts to doubt if ZZ is really a terrorist.
- Alicia - A model who goes on dates with ZZ. They seem to like each other, even though being with ZZ can be dangerous. Lady Frenzy tries to use Alicia to trap ZZ.
- President Bando - The President of Africa. He is one of the few people who believes ZZ is a hero, not a villain.

- Watzon - The team's doctor. He fixes the B.O.Y.Z.Z. and helps humans. He is surprisingly brave.

- Cook the Cooking Boyzz (voiced by Samuel Vincent) - A chef robot who cooks for ZZ and Blitzy at the base.

- Twig - The biggest B.O.Y.Z.Z. and ZZ's bodyguard. He can turn into a robot or fly with ZZ's car. Twig is well-armed and helps in big attacks.

Cool 3D Effects!
Every episode of The Bots Master had a short part in 3D! This was called "Lazer Time." They used a special trick called the Pulfrich effect to make it work. You could watch it with or without special glasses that came with the toys. To tell viewers to put on their glasses, a character (usually ZZ) would shout, "Lazer Time, boyzz!" Then, a picture of the 3D glasses would appear on screen. When the 3D part was over, ZZ would say "Game Over!" and the glasses picture would show up again, but with a no symbol over it.
Toys and Collectibles
There was a toy line made for The Bots Master. It included action figures of Ziv Zulander, Doctor Hiss, and Jungle Fiver.
Watching at Home
In the 1990s, six VHS tapes of the show were released. Each tape had one episode. As of 2018, the show has not been released on DVD.
