What's the Story?
The movie begins with a boy named Jimmy Warren. He lives by the coast in Massachusetts in 1960. Jimmy is feeling frustrated with his life. His dad scolds him about his school grades. One day, while playing on a wrecked ship with his friend Kathy, he finds an old brass jar.
Jimmy wishes he could go back to the olden days. He wants to be on a real pirate ship. Suddenly, the magic jar opens! A small, strange man pops out. He introduces himself as Abu the Genie. Abu tells Jimmy that his wish has come true. They are now passengers on the Queen Anne's Revenge. This is the ship of the famous pirate, Blackbeard.
Jimmy doesn't believe it at first. But Abu insists they are truly in the past. This genie is a bit different, though. He won't just grant any wish. He tells Jimmy he must return the brass bottle. It has to go back to the exact spot where he found it. He has only three days to do this. If he fails, Jimmy will have to take the genie's place inside the bottle!
The genie then tries to make sure Jimmy won't succeed. Jimmy faces many challenges on the pirate ship. He has to deal with Blackbeard and his crew. In the end, Jimmy is chased by Blackbeard. Just in time, he manages to return the bottle. He finds himself back in 1960. He remembers his amazing adventure. Kathy, however, is confused by his story.
