The Whistling Bagpipes Mystery

What's the Story About?

Nancy Drew always finds a mystery, no matter where she goes. In this book, Nancy, her friends, and her father travel to Scotland. They are there for family business. They also hope to solve the puzzle of a missing family treasure.

Before they leave, Nancy gets a strange warning not to go to Scotland. But Nancy is brave and ignores the warning. Once in Scotland, Nancy notices some unusual things. She also finds the local people quite interesting.

Nancy and her friends, Bess and George, visit Nancy's great-grandmother. Nancy has never met her before. Her great-grandmother lives on a large estate in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. While staying there, Nancy gets involved in a new mystery. Many flocks of sheep have gone missing. People have also seen a mysterious bagpiper in the area.

Nancy follows clues that lead her to an old castle. She also finds hints at a very old prehistoric fortress. These clues help her solve the entire mystery.

From Book to Game

This book also inspired a computer game! The 29th game in the Nancy Drew series is called Nancy Drew: The Silent Spy. It is a point-and-click adventure game. This means you use your mouse to click on objects and solve puzzles. The game is loosely based on the story from The Clue of the Whistling Bagpipes.
