Honoring a Pioneer
Back in 1961, Georgia Tech welcomed its first African American students. These students were Ford C. Greene, Ralph A. Long Jr., and Lawrence Williams. A few years later, in 1965, Ronald Yancey made history. He became the first African American student to graduate from Georgia Tech.
On September 4, 2019, two new statues were revealed at Georgia Tech's main campus. These statues celebrate these important people. They are known together as the Trailblazers statues. Martin Dawe designed both of them.
The Trailblazers Statues

You can find The Three Pioneers in Harrison Square on campus. The First Graduate is located inside the Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons.
