The Story of The Gold-Bug

A Mysterious Discovery

One day, Legrand finds a very unusual golden beetle. It looks like it's made of pure gold! He shows it to his friend, the narrator of the story. The narrator is a bit worried about Legrand, who seems to be acting strangely. Legrand draws a picture of the beetle on a piece of old paper. But when the narrator looks at the drawing, he sees something that looks like a skull instead of a beetle.

The Secret Map

Legrand soon realizes that the paper he drew on is actually a special parchment. When he heats it up, a secret message appears! It's a coded message that seems to lead to a hidden treasure. Legrand believes the golden beetle is the key to solving this mystery.

Hunting for Treasure

Jupiter has to climb the tree with the golden beetle. He drops the beetle through a skull that is nailed to the tree branch. The spot where the beetle lands marks the place where they need to dig.

Cracking the Code

The treasure hunt involves solving a complex code. Legrand is very clever and uses his skills to figure out the secret message. The code was left by a famous pirate named Captain Kidd. This part of the story is like a puzzle that the reader can try to solve along with the characters.
