What Was the Show About?
This show was a new version of an earlier show called The Krofft Supershow. Instead of a made-up band, it featured the real-life music group Bay City Rollers. The Rollers would perform funny skits and sing songs. They also introduced the live-action parts of the show. A character named Mr. Munchy was often seen with the Bay City Rollers.
The show had regular adventure parts called "Horror Hotel" and "The Lost Island." It also showed old episodes of "Magic Mongo" from the original Supershow. When the show became The Bay City Rollers Show, it was cut to 30 minutes. This meant "The Lost Island" and "Magic Mongo" were no longer shown. The skits with the Rollers sometimes featured characters from other Sid and Marty Krofft shows. These included Enik and the Sleestak from Land of the Lost. Characters from H.R. Pufnstuf also appeared. Even Dr. Shrinker (now called Dr. Deathray) and his helper Hugo (now Otto) showed up.
Fun Parts of the Show
Horror Hotel
Even though it was called "Horror Hotel," this part of the show was a comedy. It featured Wilhelmina W. Witchiepoo from H.R. Pufnstuf running a hotel. Other characters from H. R. Pufnstuf helped her. These included Dr. Blinky, Seymour the Spider, Orson the Vulture, and Stupid Bat. Horatio J. HooDoo from Lidsville lived at the hotel. He often got into funny trouble because of the hotel's antics.
The Lost Island
"The Lost Island" also featured characters from different Krofft shows. They were all on a mysterious island in the Bermuda Triangle. The stories would mix characters like H.R. Pufnstuf, Sigmund the Sea Monster, and Weenie the Genie from Lidsville. A new character named Barbie also joined them. They had to stay one step ahead of Dr. Deathray and his helper Otto. Enik from Land of the Lost was the King of the Sleestak. These creatures lived in the Lost City on the island. The Lost Island also had dragons. These dragons used stop-motion video from "Land of the Lost." The good characters often asked the Island Spirit for advice. This helped them deal with any problems they faced.
