The Mall at Fairfield Commons, also known as the Fairfield Mall, is a big shopping mall in Beavercreek, Ohio. Beavercreek is a town near Dayton. This mall opened in 1993 and has two floors.

It has many different shops, department stores, and restaurants. You can also find a food court there. The mall is owned by Washington Prime Group, which also owns the Dayton Mall.

Discovering the Mall at Fairfield Commons

The Mall at Fairfield Commons is a popular place for shopping and fun. It is located right next to Interstate 675. This makes it easy to get to. It is also close to a golf course, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Wright State University, and the Nutter Center. The Nutter Center is a place for concerts and events.

What You'll Find Inside

The mall has over 140 different stores and places to eat. It is home to several large anchor stores. These are big stores that help attract shoppers to the mall. The main anchor stores are Macy's, J. C. Penney, Dick's Sporting Goods, Round 1 Entertainment, and Morris Home Furniture. There is also one large space that used to be a store called Elder-Beerman.

A Look Back: Mall History

The Mall at Fairfield Commons first opened its doors to the public on October 27, 1993. Before that, it had a few special openings for invited guests. When it first opened, it had four main anchor stores: Elder-Beerman, Parisian, Sears, and J. C. Penney.

How J. C. Penney Joined the Mall

The J. C. Penney store at the mall replaced two smaller stores in nearby towns. One was in Riverside and the other in Xenia. The way J. C. Penney is set up in the mall is interesting. It has two sets of entrances on both floors. This means you do not have to walk through the J. C. Penney store to get to other parts of the mall.

New Stores Join the Fun

Almost a year after the mall opened, a Lazarus store joined in September 1994. Today, this store is a Macy's. In 2004, a Dick's Sporting Goods store opened. This store has two floors, but you enter it from the upper level near the food court.

Changes Over the Years

In 2007, the Parisian store became another Elder-Beerman location. This new Elder-Beerman focused on women's clothing and beauty products. The original Elder-Beerman store then focused on men's, children's, and home items.

Later, in 2014, Elder-Beerman decided to combine its two stores back into one. The part of the mall that was left empty was taken down in 2015. In its place, new restaurants were built between 2015 and 2018. Some of these restaurants are connected to the mall but have their own outside entrances. Others are separate buildings.

Store Closures and New Openings

Elder-Beerman closed its doors for good on August 29, 2018. This happened because its parent company went out of business. Soon after, Sears also announced it would close. The Sears store closed on December 9, 2018.

However, new and exciting things came to the mall. In November 2019, Round One Entertainment opened in the lower level of the old Sears store. This is a fun place with games and entertainment.

In 2020, Morris Home Furniture opened in the upper level of the former Sears store. This store sells furniture for homes. Also, a church called Mosaic Church moved into a large part of the former Elder-Beerman space in January 2021. Another church, University Baptist Church, also planned to open a location in the mall.
