The Manor is a grand old house, also known as a mansion, located in Glen Cove, New York. It was built in 1910 to be the home of a wealthy couple, John Teele Pratt and Ruth Baker Pratt. A famous architect named Charles A. Platt designed this beautiful building.

From Family Home to Film Set

In the 1950s, The Manor became a star! It was used as a filming location for two classic movies: North by Northwest and Sabrina. Imagine famous actors walking through its halls!

Becoming a Special Hotel

After Ruth Pratt passed away in 1965, The Manor changed its purpose. In 1967, it became one of the very first "conference center hotels" in the United States. This means it was a place where groups could stay, hold meetings, and learn. It was first called Harrison House. Then, in 1985, it got a new name: the Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center.

The Manor is one of five large mansions in Glen Cove that were built for the sons of Charles Pratt. Charles Pratt was a very successful businessman who made his money in the oil industry. These five mansions are all special and have interesting new uses today.
