The Nevada Journal was an important newspaper from Nevada City, California. It holds a special place in history because it was the very first newspaper ever printed in Nevada County. It was also one of the earliest newspapers to be published in the mountain regions of the U.S. state of California.

The Start of The Nevada Journal

The first issue of The Nevada Journal came out on April 19 or 21, 1851. It was started by a person named Warren Baxter Ewer. This newspaper was connected to a political group called the Whigs. They had their own ideas about how the country should be run, and newspapers like The Nevada Journal helped share their views.
