The OBGMs (which stands for The oOohh Baby Gimme Mores) are an exciting Canadian punk rock band. They come from Toronto, Ontario. This band is well-known for their 2020 album called The Ends. This album was even chosen as a finalist for a big music award, the 2021 Polaris Music Prize.

About The OBGMs

Meet the Band Members

The band has three main members. Densil McFarlane is the lead singer. Joe Brosnan plays the guitar. Colanthony Humphrey is the drummer. A keyboard player named Jemuel Roberts was also part of the band for a few years in the mid-2010s. He is no longer with the group.

How The OBGMs Started

The OBGMs first formed in 2007. Back then, they started as a hip hop duo. This duo was made up of Densil McFarlane and Colanthony Humphrey. Their music style changed to punk rock after a difficult experience. This event made McFarlane change his plans for going to university. In 2009, they released their first music collection, an EP called Interchorus.

Finding Their Way in Music

Because Densil and Colanthony are Black Canadians, the band often played at urban music events when they first started. It was sometimes hard for them to get noticed in the punk rock music scene. Things began to change for them in 2014. The band was chosen for an advertisement campaign by Budweiser. They thought they were being interviewed for a film about new bands. But when they arrived, they were asked to play a show right away. It was their biggest audience ever! After this, they played at the Budweiser Made in America Festival. They also performed at the Afropunk Festival in New York City. That same year, they released their first full album, which was self-titled.

Recent Projects and Recognition

Their album The Ends was released on October 30, 2020. Dave Schiffman produced the album. It was recorded at Dreamhouse Studios in Toronto. Around the same time, The OBGMs were chosen for a special promotion. They joined other bands like JJ Wilde and SonReal. Collective Arts Brewing promoted these independent musicians. They created special limited edition cans of their Audio/Visual Lager. Each can featured one of the bands.

In March 2021, the band also started their own podcast. It is called Band Practice.

Colanthony Humphrey, the drummer, is also the older brother of the rapper Clairmont the Second.
