The Oaks is a large shopping mall in Thousand Oaks, California. It has two levels and offers both indoor and outdoor shopping areas. The company Macerich owns and manages this popular spot. You can easily find it from US Highway 101, which is between downtown Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. The Oaks is the biggest shopping center in Ventura County. More than five million people visit the mall every year! It features popular stores like JCPenney, Macy's, Macy's Men's and Home Store, and Nordstrom. There's also a big 14-screen AMC Theatres where you can watch movies and eat.
What's Inside The Oaks?
The mall first opened its doors in 1978. It got a big update in 1993. Then, in 2007, it had a major makeover. This renovation gave the mall a fresh, modern look. It now has a design inspired by Spanish and Santa Barbara styles. This includes new floors, updated restrooms, and cool skylights.
The mall also got much bigger, reaching 1,300,000-square-foot (120,000 m2) in size. An old department store building was removed to make space for new things. In its place, a 14-screen Muvico movie theater was built. There was also a full-service restaurant called Bogarts.
You can find a dining area with ten different food places. The mall also has nice family restrooms with fancy stone and tile. Around the movie theater, there are four sit-down restaurants. These include Lazy Dog Cafe and Red Robin, which are part of an outdoor shopping area. Olive Garden is just across the parking lot. Inside the mall, you can find The Cheesecake Factory, which even has outdoor patio seating.
Fun Events and Activities
The Oaks mall often hosts exciting fashion shows. These shows highlight the newest clothing styles from the stores. They are a great way to see what's trending!
The mall also celebrates many holidays. You can take photos with Santa Claus during Christmas. In April, you might find the Easter Bunny for pictures. On Halloween, the mall often hands out candy, which is fun for kids.
Each year, the Conejo Valley Art Museum presents an event called ArtWalk at The Oaks. This event showcases art, unique crafts, and outdoor exhibits. You can also enjoy live music while you explore.
