Career Highlights
Starting Out (2002–2004)
The band began in 2002. The original members were Samuel Preston, William Brown, James Gregory, and Simon Goldring. Their first album, called Over the Counter Culture, came out in 2004. A song from this album, "Talk, Talk, Talk", became quite popular. It reached number seventeen on the UK Singles Chart.
Growing Popular (2005–2006)
In 2005, The Ordinary Boys released their second album, Brassbound. The first song from this album was "Boys Will Be Boys". It reached number sixteen on the UK Singles Chart.
In January 2006, the band's lead singer, Samuel Preston, appeared on a British reality TV show called Celebrity Big Brother. This show helped the band become much more well-known. Because of this, their song "Boys Will Be Boys" was released again. This time, it became a huge hit, reaching number three on the UK Singles Chart! Another band, Goldfrapp, even performed their own version of the song for BBC Radio 1.
The band's third album, How to Get Everything You Ever Wanted in Ten Easy Steps, was released in October 2006. This album sounded a bit different from their earlier music. It had more of a pop sound. The first song from this album, "Lonely at the Top", reached number ten on the UK Singles Chart.
Later Years (2007–Now)
The popular song "Boys Will Be Boys" was featured in the 2007 movie Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It was also played in an episode of the TV show The IT Crowd in 2007.
The band took a break in 2008. However, they got back together and started making music again in 2011.
