About the Story
This movie is a modern version of a classic book called The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain. The original story was about a prince and a poor person who looked exactly alike and swapped lives. In this film, it's set in the beach world of Southern California. Instead of a poor person, we have Cash, a surfer and skateboarder. Cash dreams of being rich and escaping his everyday life.
Queen Albertina of Gelfland brings her son, Prince Edward, to the United States. She wants to sign an important trade agreement. Prince Edward, however, wants a break from his royal life. He wishes he could spend time with regular people.
During a car ride near the beach, Cash hitches a ride on the back of the prince's limousine. He then meets Edward in his fancy hotel room. The two boys look exactly alike! They quickly come up with a plan to switch places. They separate, each ready for a new adventure.
But there's a problem! An evil government official named Minister Kratski is secretly trying to stop the Queen's plans. He wants to change Gelfland into "Golfland," which would be a big problem for the country. While pretending to be the prince, Cash learns about Kratski's sneaky plan. Meanwhile, Edward, living as Cash, enjoys life in the suburbs and tries to get to know Cash's friend, Melissa. In the end, Cash and Edward team up again to save the day and stop the bad guy.
