French Revolution of 1848 facts for kids

The February 1848 Revolution was a big event in France. It ended the rule of King Louis-Philippe. This revolution led to the creation of the French Second Republic, which lasted from 1848 to 1852.
During this time, a new idea called the "right to work" (droit au travail) became important. The government decided to create "National Workshops" to help people who did not have jobs. An industrial parliament was also set up at the Luxembourg Palace, led by Louis Blanc.
However, there were disagreements among different political groups. These included liberal Orleanists, Radical Republicans, and Socialists. These tensions later caused another uprising called the June Days Uprising. The revolution in France also inspired similar revolts across other European countries in 1848.
How the Revolution Ended in France
The period of revolution in France came to an end a few years later. Louis Napoleon took control. He dissolved the National Assembly, which was like the country's parliament. He did this even though the constitution did not allow it.
Louis Napoleon then became the sole ruler of France. In 1852, he brought back the empire and took the title of Emperors Napoleon III.
