The Roly Mo Show is a fun British children's television series that features a cast of puppets. It's a spin-off from the popular Fimbles show and was created by a company called Novel Entertainment. The series has 100 episodes, and each one is about 15 minutes long. You could watch it on CBeebies. There were also special "storytime" episodes, including some for Christmas!

The show first aired on June 13, 2004, and the last episode was shown on April 8, 2005. Roly Mo was already a well-known storyteller character in the Fimbles show, and this new series focused on his love for books. People really liked The Roly Mo Show because of its kind and friendly characters and its gentle stories.

A special show called Christmas Storytime was also shown on the CBeebies channel in 2007. In Ireland, The Roly Mo Show was broadcast on Network 2 (which later became RTÉ2) as part of a block of shows for younger kids called The Den.

How the Show Works

Each episode of The Roly Mo Show follows a similar pattern. It's like a routine that helps you know what to expect!

  • Every episode begins with Little Bo, who is Roly Mo's niece. She visits Roly Mo after school. She hangs up her backpack and hat, then slides down into the main part of Roly's cozy house.
  • One of the characters usually has a problem. This problem is the main part of the story for that episode.
  • Someone reads a story from Roly Mo's amazing library. Before the story starts, they sing a special song called "When You Take a Look Inside a Book." Most of the time, Roly Mo reads the story. But sometimes, Little Bo, Rockit, Yugo, Migo, or even a few of them together will read. The story they choose is always connected to the problem in the episode. It often gives them an idea of how to solve it!
  • Little Bo then looks in her 'Busy Book'. This starts a short animated part where a Fimble character solves an educational puzzle.
  • By the end of the episode, the problem is solved, often with a happy song.
  • The show finishes with voices talking during the credits. These voice-overs are often funny or give a little more information about what happened.

Meet the Characters

The show features a group of unique and friendly puppet characters.

  • Roly Mo - He is the main character and absolutely loves reading books. Roly Mo is a mole with cool purple and green stripes. His voice is done by Wayne Forester.
  • Little Bo - She is a younger mole and Roly's niece. Little Bo is very smart and has pink and purple stripes. Tamsin Heatley provides her voice.
  • Yugo and Migo - These two characters are called Snoots. They are orange and yellow animals that look a bit like foxes. Yugo has stripes, and Migo has spots. They can be a bit silly and energetic, which often makes younger viewers laugh! Philip Pope is the voice of Yugo, and Duncan Wisbey voices Migo.
  • Rockit the Frog - Rockit is a blue tree frog who is very curious and full of energy. His voice and movements as a puppet are done by Wayne Forester.
