What the Story is About
The adventure begins when Hermux Tantamoq, our mouse hero, meets Birch Tentintrotter. Birch is a friend of Hermux's father. Birch asks Hermux to help him investigate a big question. He wants to know if the mouse civilization we see today was built on the ideas and technology of an older, hidden cat civilization.
Uncovering an Ancient Mystery
Birch Tentintrotter has a theory, but a rival named Hinkum Stepfitchler tries to make Birch's idea look silly. Hinkum is the son of Birch's old teacher. To prove Birch's theory, Hermux and a pilot named Linka Perflinger join Birch on a trip. They travel to a far-off Western desert.
Discovering the Cat City
In the desert, they find amazing proof! They confirm that a cat civilization did exist long ago. They also learn that the mouse population used to be under the cats' control. But their discovery leads to trouble. Hinkum Stepfitchler captures them. He then reveals a shocking secret: his family became rich by taking the cats' inventions and pretending they were their own.
Escaping and Exposing the Truth
While Hinkum is away, Hermux, Birch, and Linka manage to escape. They rush back to tell the mouse society about Hinkum's dishonest plan. They expose his secrets to everyone.
A Grand Celebration
After the truth comes out, the ruined cat city is carefully rebuilt. It's recreated inside a mouse museum. All the amazing items and tools from the cat civilization are put on display. This grand event is celebrated by everyone in the mouse society.
