The Stooges were an American rock band. They are known for their raw and energetic sound, which helped create a new style of music called protopunk. This sound was a very early form of punk rock. The band started in 1967 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The Stooges began making music two years later. Their first album came out in August 1969. It was produced by John Cale, who was a member of another famous band called The Velvet Underground. The band released two more albums after that. However, the original members of The Stooges broke up in 1974. They later got back together in 2003 and continued to play music.
