The Store Bar shooting was a sad event that happened on June 25, 1976. It was a mass shooting at a pub called The Store Bar (also known as Walkers Bar) in Templepatrick, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. This event was part of a difficult time in Northern Ireland's history known as the Troubles.

What Happened at The Store Bar?

A group called the Republican Action Force was responsible for the attack. They used a powerful rifle, an AR-15 assault rifle, to shoot at the pub.

Sadly, three people lost their lives in this attack. They were Ruby Kidd, who was 28 years old, Francis Walker, who was 17, and Joseph McBride, who was 56. All three victims were Protestant civilians. About six other people were also hurt during the shooting.

What Happened After the Attack?

About a week after the Store Bar shooting, another group called the UVF (Ulster Volunteer Force) carried out their own attack. They targeted a pub called the Ramble Inn. This pub was owned by a Catholic person.

In the Ramble Inn attack, six people were killed. Interestingly, five of those who died were Protestants, and only one was Catholic. This outcome was seen as a mistake or "own goal" by the UVF. They usually targeted Catholics, but in this case, most of their victims were Protestants.
