Wagner was born in Vienna, the capital city of Austria. He played football for different clubs for many years, from 1946 to 1964.
Club Football Career
Theodor Wagner played for several football clubs during his career. He started with Wacker Wien. He played there for a long time, from 1946 to 1958.
After leaving Wacker Wien, he joined Linz in 1958. He played for Linz until 1963. His final club was Wacker Innsbruck, where he played from 1963 to 1964.
Playing for Austria
Wagner also played for his home country, Austria. He was a member of the Austrian national football team from 1946 to 1957.
He played in 46 games for Austria and scored 22 goals. This is a great achievement for any player.
1954 FIFA World Cup
One of the most important parts of his career was when he played in the 1954 FIFA World Cup. Austria finished third in this big international tournament.
During the 1954 World Cup, Theodor Wagner scored three goals in one game! This is called a hat-trick. He scored these goals in a thrilling quarterfinal match against Switzerland. Austria won that game by a score of 7–5.
