Different Versions of the Song
There are five different versions of "This is Home." Each one sounds a little different!
The Radio Mix
The Radio Mix was the first version released. It has a full drum set and features the whole band playing. This version was sent to radio stations because it has a faster, more upbeat sound. It's also the one used in the official music videos and on the album The Best Yet.
The Soundtrack Version
The Soundtrack version is found on the movie's official soundtrack CD. This one uses lighter drums instead of a full drum set. It also has a more dreamy and open sound overall.
The Credits Version
The Credits version is quite different from the others. This is the one you hear at the end of the Prince Caspian movie. It has some changed lyrics and is shorter. The band's guitarist, Drew Shirley, said that the movie director liked their early demo version the best. So, parts of that demo ended up in the film!
Acoustic and Demo Versions
- An acoustic version of the song was released. It was only available on the Rhapsody music service.
- In 2009, Switchfoot also shared an even earlier demo of the song. It was called "Heading Home" back then. This version was only for members of their fan club, "Friends of the Foot."
How the Song Was Released
The song was first sent to radio stations on April 25, 2008.

In November 2008, a new music video for the song came out. The song was sent to radio stations again, but it didn't become as popular that time.
