Thomas Caulfield Irwin (born May 4, 1823 – died February 20, 1892) was an Irish poet, writer, and a smart person who studied old languages and history. He was known for his beautiful poems and stories.

He was born in a town called Warrenpoint in County Down, Ireland. His family was quite wealthy, and he was taught at home. He traveled to places like Europe and Africa. Later, his family lost their money, and he became poor. Around 1848, he started working as a journalist in Dublin. Other writers at the time thought he was a very talented poet.

He wrote a lot of different things. He wrote for magazines like the Dublin University Magazine and The Nation. He also wrote at least one novel and many books of poetry. He even translated works from old classical writers and other European authors.

Thomas Irwin died in Rathmines, Dublin, after living in poverty for some years. He is buried in Mount Jerome Cemetery.
