Tia Williams is an American writer and editor. She has written six books. She is well-known for her novels The Accidental Diva (2004), The Perfect Find (2016), and Seven Days in June (2021). Tia Williams has also worked as a fashion editor for a long time. Currently, she is the editorial director for the Estée Lauder Companies.

Early Life and Education

Tia Williams grew up in a suburban area of Virginia. She started writing when she was a child. She even wrote her first book when she was only seven years old! Williams has said that The Westing Game was a book that inspired her to become a writer.

She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia in 1997. Soon after graduating, she moved to Brooklyn, New York. She has lived there ever since.

Career as a Writer and Editor

Tia Williams began her professional writing career in 2004. That year, she started a fashion blog called Shake Your Beauty. She also worked as an editor for several popular magazines. These included Essence, Glamour, Teen People, and Elle.

For five years, Williams was the main copywriter at Bumble and bumble. Since 2020, she has been the editorial director for the Estée Lauder Companies.

First Novels and Collaborations

Williams published her first novel, The Accidental Diva, in 2004. This book came out during a time when many books by and about Black women were being published. Publishers Weekly gave her first book a good review. They praised her writing style. They said her writing helped make the book more than just a simple love story.

In 2006, Tia Williams worked with model Iman to write a book called The Beauty of Color. Williams also wrote two young adult novels. These were titled It Chicks and It Chicks: Sixteen Candles.

Popular Books and Adaptations

Williams released The Perfect Find in 2016. This book is about a woman who gets a job as a fashion editor. She then falls in love with her manager's son. This book was later made into a film. Netflix and Gabrielle Union produced the movie. Gabrielle Union also starred in it. The film was released on Netflix in 2023.

In 2021, she published Seven Days in June. This novel tells the story of two writers who meet again after 15 years. They then have a week-long affair. The main character in the book has chronic migraines. Tia Williams also experiences migraines. After it was published, Seven Days in June became a New York Times Best Seller. It was also chosen for Reese Witherspoon's book club. Many reviewers praised the book. Seven Days in June is currently being developed into a TV series. Will Packer Media is producing it, and Williams is an executive producer.

Her book A Love Song For Ricki Wilde came out in February 2024. It quickly became a USA Today Bestseller.

Personal Life

Tia Williams got married in 2021. She has one child.
