Tiara Nicole Thomas (born September 12, 1989) is an American R&B singer and songwriter. She is famous for singing on the 2013 hit song "Bad" with the rapper Wale. The song was a huge success, reaching the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart. It sold so many copies that it was certified triple platinum.
Thomas is also a very talented songwriter. In 2021, she won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year for helping to write the song "I Can't Breathe" by the artist H.E.R.. In the same year, she also won an Academy Award for Best Original Song. She co-wrote the song "Fight for You" for the movie Judas and the Black Messiah.

Tiara Thomas was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her parents saw her talent early on and encouraged her to follow her dreams in music. As a child, she often performed at school and in her church. She went to Lawrence North High School.
Thomas loved listening to hip hop and pop music. She used these influences to create her own unique style. She mixed pop, alternative music, and rap to make her sound special. After high school, she went to Ball State University and graduated in June 2012.

In 2009, Thomas met the rapper Wale at one of his concerts in Atlanta, Georgia. She gave him some of her music, and a few months later, he contacted her. Soon, she was in New York City, opening for Wale at a big show. In 2011, she officially signed with Wale's company, The Board Administration.
Thomas became known for using websites like YouTube and Twitter to share her music. She posted new songs, live performances, and covers of popular songs. In 2010, she was featured on Wale's song "The Cloud," which helped many people discover her talent.
In 2011, Thomas was chosen to be a spokesperson for the American Eagle Outfitters "We The People" campaign. Her face was even on a giant billboard in Times Square in New York City. Two of her songs, "Denim" and "Wassup," were used in the campaign.
Rise to Fame
In 2013, Thomas was featured on Wale's single "Bad". The song became a major hit, climbing to number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This was her first song to become so popular.
That same year, she signed a new record deal with Rico Love's Division 1 label and Interscope. On October 8, 2013, she released her first EP, a short album called Dear Sallie Mae.
