What is Tik Tak?
The show had a lot of episodes, exactly 366! This was enough for every day of the year, plus an extra one for leap years. Each episode of Tik Tak was quite special. It always started with a peaceful scene of sheep. Sometimes, a dog would also appear. These animals were on a platform that slowly turned as the sun set.
The Magic of Each Episode
After the opening, the show would switch to a shadow figure. This figure was played by Ann Ricour. She would have fun adventures inside five different colored books. Each book had its own unique world. The show used simple visuals and sounds. It did not have any talking. This made it easy for young children to understand and enjoy.
Where Tik Tak Was Shown
The very first episode of Tik Tak was shown on November 1, 1981. It was broadcast on a Belgian channel called BRTN, which is now known as VRT. In Belgium, the show was also aired on Ketnet until 2006.
Tik Tak Goes Global
Tik Tak became very popular around the world. It was sold to about 30 different countries! This made it one of Belgium's biggest TV show exports ever. Countries like Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States showed Tik Tak. It was also seen in places like Israel and South Africa.
The Legacy of Tik Tak
The success of Tik Tak led to new shows inspired by its style. In 1999, a show called Hopla was created. Many people saw Hopla as a show that followed in Tik Tak's footsteps. Like Tik Tak, Hopla was made in Belgium. It also aimed at very young children and had little to no dialogue.
Tik Tak Returns: The New Series
Years later, in 2019, Tik Tak made a comeback! A new version, called Tik Tak 2.0, was created. This new series has 52 episodes. They are all in high-definition (HD) quality. These new episodes are shown on Ketnet in Belgium. They also air on NPO Zappelin in the Netherlands and on the BBC in the UK.
